We took the kids back to school on January 3rd and us back to a quiet house. We enjoyed having Abi, a young pre-nursing college student and daughter of missionary friends, stay with us for two weeks this month as she shadowed Jon at the clinic. Since she grew up out here in TZ it meant she knew Swahili and Jon didn’t have to translate every word, which was nice. She’s feeling led to be a missionary nurse in the future!
The dispensary water system is up and running well. The tower water tank fills automatically, and we’ve got water pumped to all but a few of the station houses. We praise God for His provision.
Thank you for praying with us for our local church and Usandawe in general, we are seeing the Lord moving in some neat ways! We recently heard of an Isl@mic teacher from a village several kilometers away, who was listening to the scriptures in Kisandawe on the players that the Hunzikers developed. Just recently he has given his life to the LORD and says he can no longer teach Isl@m. Please pray for this man, S, his family and his community, and for Odilo who is discipling him now. This is just one story of how God in working in Usandawe to draw people to Himself.
Praise God also for three recent baptisms of new believers this past Sunday, all Sandawe folks from the Gumbu/Motto area!
Another praise is for a young woman, E, who was delivered from demonic activity, who is actually from a different area of the country. She also comes from a M@slim background, but came to stay with relatives to seek help here in Magambua. She’s now being discipled as well and working through a Foundations Bible study book that Pastors Cliff Boone and Alfred Ndaro translated in to Swahili years ago! Please continue to pray for our local church and for a mighty harvest of souls in Usandawe.
We were able just recently to get a fresh shipment of the Msingi (foundation) Bible study books from Pastor Ndaro. We’re planning to distribute them to all the churches in Usandawe for them to use for discipleship Bible studies. Pray for these new believers especially as they work through the study, that their faith would be established firmly, and for older believers to be equipped anew!
Thank you for your partnership in prayer, in finances and in friendship. We love and appreciate you so very much. May the LORD bless you in the coming year as we move closer to seeing Him face to face! Oh how we long for that day!
All for Him,
Melissa for the Eagers
