Dear Friends and Family,
Wow, time has flown since we wrapped up Mediquest in mid-July! From June 6th to July 11th, Melissa and I had the privilege of leading the 2017 Mediquest team. Five ladies from four different countries joined us in visiting four different medical mission sites across East Africa. We had a really great time getting to know these exceptional women. We prayed together, studied the Word together, experienced missions together, and laughed a lot too! Three of them were nurses, one was a medical student, and another a pre-medical student. All were interested to see what the Lord would teach them about medical missions and His heart for the nations. We worked through the Xplore Bible study, the 30 days of Prayer for the Muslim world, and discussed a variety of issues surrounding missions, health, healing, and ministry in cross-cultural settings. We rubbed shoulders with nationals working in hospital and clinics, medical missionaries, hospital directors, surgeons, doctors, nurses, students. We saw how the Lord is working in big places and small places. We visited a 160 bed church run District Hospital in Litein Kenya, and the huge 360 bed Kijabe Hospital, some small clinics among an unreached M people group, and our health center in Magambua, Usandawe.
It was an honor to meet so many who are serving in medical work to make Jesus known among so many people groups here in East Africa. Our prayer for this team is that the Lord would use their experience to speak to them about how they can make an impact for His Kingdom through medicine, and perhaps call them to missions in the future.
Thanks for praying for us and the team while they were here!
In Christ,
Jon
