Hello once again (this update was written Wednesday 6-24),
The last few days have seen us driving across New Mexico into Arizona for a few days and then on to California via Hoover Dam in Nevada. We have had wonderful times of fellowship with friends and family. We have also been tourists. Let me just say that the Grand Canyon literally took my breath away. I teared up at God’s majesty declared. We read Psalm 104 as a family. Grand does not even begin to describe it. Photos do not do justice to beauty and splendor of the place. Some of the kids were a bit whiny as we got out of the car and started heading towards the south rim, but when we got to the view, it was as if the Lord quieted them right down with the amazing display!
We have a few more days in California with Jon’s cousins and seeing the Redwoods, before heading up to Oregon to stay with dear friends for 4 nights. We felt this was a good time in our trip to stay put for just a little bit. We are so thankful for safety and good health. We have a couple of little hiccups (ie. our credit card got cancelled due to a security breach at headquarters) and we have all had moments of crankiness but they have been minimal and our family is learning forgiveness and patience among other things. This trip really has been absolutely amazing both in terms of our interactions with people and in seeing the United States.
While traveling is tiring, we feel refreshed as we have been so blessed by people we love, like the Daniels family in Phoenix and the Johnsons in San Diego, and Melissa’s cousins Craig and Janet Barnett north of San Diego. Thank you for your prayers. Attached are some photos that will tell more of our story. Oh, by the way, we have seen all 50 U.S. license plates as well as several from Canada and Mexico. We got our final state a couple of hours into California. Want to guess what it was? Not Hawaii or Alaska. Our final state was North Dekota and second to last, Rhode Island. We haven’t actually seen a car from Maine, only trucks which are not unusual on the east coast so we are still keeping our eyes open for a private vehicle from Maine so we will see how long that takes.
Blessings,
Melissa for the Eagers
PS. Please pray for Drew’s ear, he’s gotten swimmer’s ear, and Jon got some medicine for him, but it hasn’t kicked in yet.
