Don’t mess with Texas!

Hi Y’all!

Here we are in El Paso. Been on the road for 8 days, been in 7 states, 3 time zones and covered more than 2500 miles. We have been in Texas for 3 days…it’s a really BIG state! We really like it though. We have been through various and changing landscapes and most of it reminds us of one part or another of Kenya or Tanzania. The last few visits have all been with family which has been a real blessing. We have seen some interesting signs…”Prison area, don’t pick up hitchhikers”. But you gotta love Texas where the speed limit is 80 and goes down to 65 in a work zone. We stopped in at a western store today just for fun. Rachel and I both got belts, hers has a little more bling than mine does. We have seen raccoon, badger, armadillo and coyote…all road kill. I would like to see some living animals. Jon did see a Road Runner dash across the road though…I was looking down:-( at that moment. Besides spending time with special people in both Little Rock Arkansas and outside of Dallas, we visited the Dallas World Aquarium; absolutely amazing, and today stopped in at the Indian Cliffs Ranch outside El Paso to see some local (and not so local) wildlife and eat the best steaks we have ever had at the Cattleman’s Steakhouse. It was a neat place. They feed the coyotes and we had a great viewing spot but I think they appear a little later on in the evening so we missed them.

Well, again I am feeling like it’s an hour later than it really it so I am bushed. Thanks again for all your prayers.

Blessings,
Melissa for all
