Safely in the US

Dear Friends and Family,

Thank you for praying! I’m writing from my parents house near Reading, Pennsylvania. Our flights from Nairobi and Heathrow over the weekend went very well, the kids did great on the flights, and all our luggage came through well. We got in to Philadelphia Airport yesterday afternoon where my parents came to pick us up.

You’d be proud of us, in spite of reverse culture shock, this morning Melissa and I (by ourselves) drove to a Giant supermarket on the right side of the road without breaking any traffic laws, successfully parked and entered the supermarket, asked someone a question in English, priced 30 different kinds of toothpaste, bought some of said toothpaste (and some other bathroom items), used the self-check out isle, and even put gas in the car (remember, no self-service pumps in Tanzania), and paid for all of it without cash.

Whew! What an accomplishment! Well, I think we’re good for the day now, time to rest from such a mentally challenging morning!

We’re happy to be here, and looking forward to seeing so many of you!

We head to Hershey Wednesday.

Love in Christ,

Jon for all of us
